Canal du Midi
Canal du Midi runs along the bottom of Caux et Sauzens making its way towards Carcassonne passing close to the train station in the lower Town and then onto the coast, following the route of an ancient highway.
Built by Pierre-Paul Riquet over the course of fifteen years, the canal opened in 1681 and was considered at the time a massive engineering accomplishment. The Canal is now a UNESCO world heritage site.
The tree lined Canal with its signature humpback bridges, provides a pleasant, relax path for walks, only a few minutes from the villa.
